Played Cloughie years ago with my bro. Very fond memories of it. Ordered this yesterday after finding out it was available again. Arrived today. Me and my three boys played it all afternoon and we had an absolute blast. Well done. The 1980’s cards were very welcome. There was fun, tension (season went down to the last game, after an injury to a key player for the league leaders). I recommend this to anyone reading my review. Great fun, and great flavour. It tastes like football management. Feels like the old Championship Manager did. Not 100% simulation, but you can taste the football in it. As an aside - two divisions with promotion and relegation, 1990’s players.....you know you want to do it....you know
The game is superb and super funny. I played it with my wife and my 9 years old son, and its strength lays in its simple mechanics linked to really engaging atmosphere. If you are managing a strong team the challenge lays in winning and build a dynasty, but if you were unlucky during the first couple of seasons it is possibly even more fun to try to catch up and find out strategies to bring your team up in the league. And events are always there to re-balance the game.

I used to play this game back in the 80's and loved it then, the improvement they've made are good and they have updated the game well.please note A lap top or iPad will be needed to play the game so bare that in mind.

Hasn’t changed much to the original version but still excellent value
My son and I have just purchased the game a few days ago. We have played 5 seasons and he is addicted! This is not only the best football based board game, it is the best board game we have ever played by far and we have quite a collection! The mix of luck and strategy is excellent. The attention to detail in relation to how it had been produced is excellent! It is very competitive and the app really brings it to life and adds that extra special touch, especially for a ten year old who loves football and technology. The rules are simple enough to follow and when I wanted to clarify a few points in my simple mind, I sent a message and my query was answered quickly and thoroughly by someone who clearly had a passion for the game. Overall excellent game and wish we had purchased it earlier. Ideal game for kids and adults! Brilliant! Looking forward to many more enjoyable game nights! Thank you!
This is a fantastic updated version of Brian Clough’s Football Fortunes, a game my mates and I played to death on the ZX Spectrum back in the 80’s. Never won the league with my local team Ballyclare Comrades but hey ho! Fast forward 33 years and I have the remake in my hands. And I’m delighted to say it’s superb. Everything about it smacks of quality. Clearly made by people with a love of the original game, it has the same feel about it. And it plays brilliantly.
Had quite a few games now, and it’s a “just one more season” kind of thing as you’re gazumped in the transfer markets to losing your best players just when you didn’t need it. Choice language and a lot of drink consumed into the wee hours! Still haven’t won the league with Ballyclare Comrades but you can always dream....
Buy this game now, you won’t regret it - prepare to lose large chunks of your life. Just persuaded the wife to have a game, that’s how much it appeals to everyone - I’m expecting to be beaten by her as well! Just need to save up for the player mats and it’s all complete.

If you're looking for a football game that the whole family will enjoy then this is the one for you. My wife absolutely hates football but loves this game - She now knows who the players are when I'm watching Match of the Day! The game has a small learning curve which is helped by the easy to master rules and ingenious app that accompanies the game. All of the highs and lows (did someone say crisis card!?) of football management are included. You get to pick your formation, sign your favourite players, win trophies, qualify for Europe, develop youth players and above all, revel in the glory of beating your nearest and dearest. If you love football, you'll love football fortunes. If you don't like football (like my wife) you'll love beating your husband with a team that includes Van Dijk and Aguero. It's a must have for any family games night.
Football Fortunes is a great game to play with friends and family. Has the feel and appeal of a retro game with an updated, modern and sleek look. Easy to play and you could loose yourself for hours with this one. Let’s play ball!!!
Fantastic game to play with friends. A great reboot of the original, updated and improved to make sense in the modern footballing era. Just make sure you set aside plenty of time, as once you start to play, one season is never enough!
The only board game that will ever be able to accurately replicate the ups and downs of football. I look forward to figuring out a strategy to finally win this game, however I am prepared to cry over club fees and bad results over and over again as this reboot of the classic game has obviously been made with care and love with the attention to detail put into it. So much fun and must for any football fan!

Excellent reboot of a classic computer/board game. Highly recommended game that has stood the test of time. Enjoyed equally by those that loved the original and those new to it.

Played the original (on C64) with my childhood friends in the 80s. And to be able to play this with my kids some 30 years later, and an even better version of the game is an awsome experience. Being a boardgame fanatic, with lots of games in the shelf, and this hitting the table frequently is proof this game is a gem, we love it.
I might be a bit of a game geek but I'm not a football geek - and the idea of a football board game didn't enthral me - but I have to say, Football Fortunes isn't about football to me. It's about really engaging game play and the whole experience was joyous. Perfect blend of randomness and analog/digital interactions. After playing someone elses copy, I got myself a copy as soon as I could. I was playing with some football geeks and they were absolutely in their element, I just found the game incredibly engaging!
This game is a must for all families and friends to play . Hours of fun and misery sometimes too . The return of an old classic with the added bonus that you now have the game changing to focus on the needs of the user.
All questions asked about the game are always answered very quickly by Marty who is just a lovely person too which really helps.
Great to be able to purchase this superb game i remember so well from my youth. Highly impressed with quality & format of this newly released classic. My 9 year old taking to it as well which is pleasing. Recommend.
A very nice update to the original bona fide classic. The new elements of gameplay (scouts, coaches and youth players) are all very well implemented and add to the game experience. There’s still a few features from the original app that haven’t been implemented, such as the ability to check the standings at any given time, but hopefully that will be sorted out in future releases.
Backed the Kickstarter and received the game and app download on time.. which is a first for anything i've ever backed on Kickstarter!
Fantastic fun, especially when played with friends and beers - brilliant game and gets very competitive. The accompanying app has been consistently updated and improved since launch which is fantastic to see.
Highly recommended, if you were a fan of the old Brian Clough C64 version you'll love this.
